What’s Your Color for 2011?
If you’re keeping track of the color trends, last week, the color experts at Pantone selected honeysuckle as the color of the year for 2011 (see story below).
The official designation of this “vibrant and energetic” color is PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle.

According to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, among the reason honeysuckle was selected is, “the intensity of this festive reddish pink allures and engages. In fact, this color, not the sweet fragrance of the flower blossoms for which it was named, is what attracts hummingbirds to nectar. Honeysuckle may also bring a wave of nostalgia for its associated delicious scent reminiscent of the carefree days of spring and summer.”
Eisemann adds that honeysuckle is “a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going.”
In case you missed it, here are Pantone’s Colors of the Year for the past five years:
2010 — Turquoise
2009 — Mimosa
2008 — Blue Iris
2007 — Chili Pepper
2006 — Sand Dollar

  1. Yes, honeysuckle may well bring thoughts of summer. I grow it on my house outside the bedroom window and it certainly does that for me.
